About

My work is about my life and identity. It expresses, in diverse ways, thoughts and emotions connected to past and present experiences, sometimes drawn from subconscious memories and sometimes sparked by current social and political events. I enjoy creating themed projects which I can also offer as community or group workshops. I use my sketchbooks and portfolios as major tools. Sometimes material is recent, and sometimes it is old ideas revisited from a contemporary perspective. People, and their relationship to life in general, are central to my work: close friends, acquaintances, those I observe on the street. I mainly use clay to express the narrative form.

My background is in design having gained a BA in Textile Design at Leeds University in England. Already during my first year I realised that it was the creative process I enjoyed and not the textile industry. I visualised my 2D designs as 3D sculptures and so after Leeds I moved on to a 1 year course in Ceramics at Bristol Polytechnic, School of Adult Art Studies, followed by a 1 year postgraduate in Art Education obtaining an ATC in Expressive Arts from Sussex University.

After teaching art, design and ceramics in various schools and colleges I set up my own studio, producing my own work, giving private workshops and taking an active role in social and community projects in the UK, Cyprus and the Netherlands which is my home base.
